WOOL,WOOL AND MORE WOOL

On Tuesday morning I took 6 fleeces of mine to GOODKARMA, they will process my wool for me. I was so impressed with their mill.  I took a tour and got to see how everything works. It is amazing when you take wool to a mill and even if you process some of your own wool like I do, it is nice to see the different ways they do it. I will have my wool back in 6-8 weeks. I cant wait. We will be putting the yarn in our store for sale. The skeins will be in 4oz skeins with 200 yards in each. gauge 3 stiches per inch with size 9 needle.

Some of the wool is black and grey which will all be blended together. Then there is natural oatmeal color. Some of that will be dyed and the rest I will keep its natural color. I even took some brown which I may keep for myself. This brown has 3 different shades in it. I would like to make a sweater for myself out of it. It is from one sheep and three shearing. Who knows maybe there will be plenty for a sweater and to share. We will see in 6-8 weeks.

MIKELSWOOL SHOP

It is funny when I get a phone call or if I am at the shop working and people will say “this use to be a old ice cream shoppe” and ask me “are you turning it back into one, ” I just laugh, some people do not like change, and some can not except change. I am sorry. we will not be selling ice cream out of the shop. We will be selling wool, yarn and other things to keep you and your family warm during the cold winter months.  I like ice cream too, just not enough to sell it.  And an ice cream shoppe would not be possible for me, my husband eats ice cream all the time. A big bowl every night. We would lose money. ( Lot’s of money.)

MIKELSWOOL  was named because my husbands name is Mike and mine is Kelly. The Mi came from Mike and the KEL came from Kelly, people have asked why I named it MIKELSWOOL.

Well I am off to play with some wool, its a nice day for dyeing wool and washing a fleece or two. And then spin some wool.

Have a GREAT DAY EVERYONE.

Busy Day

Well my day started at 2:00 a.m. I started off with a cup of coffee and knitting needles. Then made my way back to the kitchen to make 4 loaves of oatmeal bread. (came out oh so good by the way) then back to coffee and knitting needles. At 5:30 I was out to feed 16 sheep and 40 turkeys. My horses are are another farm up the road, (They will need to stay there until after they give birth.) I will go see them later on today. I washed 1 fleece, that is outside drying. (cant wait to play with that) Then did some packing up of stuff for the store. Which is where I am off to after a while. Things are coming together quit nicely. I so cant wait to open my doors to the public. It has been a dream of mine for a while now to have my own little business somewhere. It is true what they say” dreams do come true”  Well off to fill water buckets then go to my shop to finish setting up somethings. Have a great day all.
